Overall, just think of Robin saying "Support your police!" & Batman responding "Well said, Robin." and you get an idea that while the series was corny, it at least had a moral compass always. The cliff hangers & fights from these are now classic, & some of the plots were pretty corny, while others showed imagination. The iconic super-heroes unite when longtime Superman enemy Lex Luthor, now president of the United States, accuses Superman of a horrible act. At least they were 3 great seasons & all in color. A tale of loyalty and unlikely friendship featuring two of the most recognizable and popular super-heroes on the planet, SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES pairs the Man of Steel with the Dark Knight. This was an ABC series which would have lasted longer, but CBS had such a power house line-up, this was lucky to make it 3 seasons. Alan Ladd, Vincent Price, Otto Preminger, Art Carney, Roddy Mcdowell to name a few villains. It is a who's who of character actors from that era.

The amazing thing about this series was the amount of great actors & actresses they got to play the criminals. Ceasar Romero's Joker was so good that Jack Nicholson had to take the character in new directions in the film to avoid direct comparison. Frank Gorshin's Riddler has never been equaled. Burgess Meredith made a great Penguin - especially when he runs for mayor of Gotham City against Batman and proclaims "I should have gotten into politics sooner because in campaigns, all my dirty bird tricks are legal now!" Imagine that, & this is before Nixon got caught. To me the criminals were most often the stars of this. Burt Ward's Robin was often reactive with many Holy Blanks!! & while he was mostly a sidekick for Batman, sometimes when the Caped Crusdaer was tied up, he & the faithful Alfred would manage things. No matter how outlandish Robin or a super criminal was, West would always appear to take things in stride & have a straight face when he would pull something out of his utility belt to handle the problem. His straight face was always what held thing together. In whatever shape or form, The Joker has been there since issue #1, and he’ll probably be there to fight whatever iteration of Batman there is until the end.Adam West not only was Batman, in this series he was straight man. Even his origin’s shady, and the story changes every time he tells it.

The Joker’s unpredictable and psychotic, plus he can manipulate people to work for him and execute his insane plans. It was obvious from The LEGO Batman Movie, right? He’s The Dark Knight’s nemesis through and through and we love to see his chaotic nature at work (with some exceptions). To no one’s surprise, The Joker is the best of Batman’s villains. She’s like Batman’s Doug Judy, even when she helps the caped crusader, she escapes every time. She also has a complicated love-hate relationship with Batman, which makes their interactions even more interesting. Catwoman doesn’t do evil just because she tends to do the wrong things for the right reasons. Plus, the fact that she’s one of the more morally grey characters makes her stand out from the rest. She doesn’t have any supernatural abilities, but her cunning and her whip make her a worthy adversary. She appeared in the first issue of the comic as “The Cat” and she’s been the caped crusader’s antiheroine ever since. Selina Kyle has been with Batman since the beginning. He’s not the mindless muscle depicted in most movies, and he’s one of the bigger dangers Batman has to face in Gotham.

He’s still a dangerous villain, as he has deep knowledge of science and can speak several languages. But despite his planning and his incredible feats of strength, Bane usually poses more of a physical challenge for Batman, which puts him in third place. You’d think the man who broke the Bat (at least his spine) would be higher on this list. He’s basically an older, evil, version of Batman, and it speaks volumes of Ra’s that he wanted Bats to be his successor. After all, he’s been alive for hundreds of years thanks to the Lazarus Pit. He’s extremely intelligent, rich, cunning, and skilled in combat. However, six different actors played the Joker in seven live-action movies so far (Batman 1966, Batman 1989, The Dark Knight, Suicide Squad, Joker, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League, The Batman. He’s the leader of the League of Assassins as well. The Head of the Demon is one of Batman’s greatest supervillains. His riddles and puzzles bring out the detective side of the caped crusader, something we don’t see as often. He’s probably Batman’s most intelligent adversary. He used to be a puzzle aficionado until his ambition got the better of him, and he decided that his only worthy foe could be the caped crusader. Despite him having no otherworldly powers, his intellect is enough to challenge the Bat. Edward Nigma challenges Batman like no other villain does.
